Training
The training division of Yorktown / Mt. Pleasant Township Fire Department is committed to providing the most up to date and relevant training available. The training division consists of a Training Officer, Assistant Training Officer and five certified instructors that share the responsibilities of offering recognized classes in order for our firefighters to gain state certification. In addition, these instructors consistently work with surrounding departments to cross train methodologies, equipment and personnel in such a manner that there will be seamless integration upon responding to emergency situations. To ensure accurate and relevant training is being administered the Training Officer actively participates in the Delaware County Fire Department Instructors Committee and is the volunteer fire department representative for Delaware County at the District 6 Training Council. The District 6 Training Council is a culmination of instructors from thirteen counties with a representative from a paid, combination and volunteer fire department for each county. Many of our firefighters attend training sessions throughout the state, which allows them to exchange strategies and tactics with firefighters from departments of all sizes. This information is then brought back to our department and shared with the rest of the membership so that we may all benefit from these lessons. Our department is also compliant with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) guidelines set forth by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Firefighter Challenge (July 2009). Below are pictures of firefighters navigating activities simulating those found on a fire scene. |
